Job Summary:

The Refugee Integration Support Worker assists in leading the regional Refugee Readiness Team (RRT) and providing a means for community partners to get together to implement the action plan related to resettlement of newcomer refugees and displaced Ukrainians. The action plan prioritizes four major issues: Housing, Health Care Access, Coordination of Information, and Employment Opportunities for Refugees and displaced Ukrainians. This position’s goal is to assist Archway’s Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) in gathering feedback on the resettlement of displaced Ukrainians, Afghan and other refugees in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge. The Refugee Integration Support Worker will also assist in developing and maintaining the Fraser Valley RRT’s portal/website, gathering data, and coordinating and facilitating meetings with all stakeholders.

Your Role:

Archway’s Refugee Integration and Support Worker with the Diversity Education and Resources Program (DEARS) contributes by:

  • Assisting in the implementation of the Fraser Valley Refugee Readiness Team (RRT) Action Plan in consultation with all stakeholders.
  • Facilitating and co-leading the RRT through monthly or quarterly regional and working group meetings.
  • Assisting in gathering information and statistics for reporting to the Provincial Refugee Resource Network.
  • Facilitating networking opportunities and cooperation between regional stakeholders to achieve better integration outcomes for Displaced Ukrainians, Afghan, and other refugees.

This position is a great fit for someone who knows about challenges faced by refugees and refugee claimants, has good relationship building and networking skills, is good with computers, and is able to use virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco WebEx.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences or Humanities, OR in the process of completing a Degree or Diploma, OR equivalent experience.
  • One year experience working with newcomers, refugees, or immigrants.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle as there may be extensive driving to meet with partners and stakeholders in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge.  Some meetings will take place virtually. 
  • For any meetings where driving is required, your mileage will be compensated.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.
