Position Offered: Restaurant Assistant (Cook)

This is a full-time position based in Ottawa, Ontario.

Hours per week: 30 hours per week

Wage/Salary: $26.06 per hour

Language: English

Duties:

• Prepare and cook authentic Kenyan meals, e.g., Chapati, Mukimo, Githeri, Ugali, Matumbo, Kachumbari, Pilau Wali, Mutura and Nyama Choma.

• Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes
• Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers
• Oversee kitchen operations
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
• May clean kitchen and work area
• May plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
• May be involved in hiring and training kitchen staff

Qualifications:

• Completion of secondary school
• Experience specifically with Kenyan cuisine
