Job Description

Fleet Technician

The Fleet Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment. This role works closely with the Fleet Services team to ensure vehicle maintenance is kept up to date, perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain medium and heavy-duty trucks and mounted hydraulic equipment
  • Completes daily work orders and provides input pertaining to preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs, inspections, parts, and emergency repairs
  • Maintain service documentation records and complete reports of work performed
  • Review work orders and establish priorities with Garage Foreman
  • Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and electric systems
  • Perform all duties in compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Road work on service trucks as required and some overnight stay as required

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 2nd year apprenticeship in the Mechanical and/or Heavy-Duty Equipment trade
  • High School Diploma required
  • Knowledge of utility equipment is an asset
  • Experience with hydraulics, electrical, engines and transmission is an asset
  • Welding experience an asset
  • Required to provide own tools
  • Valid Class 1A or 3A Driver’s License – Driver’s abstract will be requested
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of off-road and heavy equipment, trucks and trailers
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills as it relates to trucks and equipment
  • Excellent communication skills
