Child Care Support Worker

Wage: $24.87-25.87 per hour, dependent on education

Part Time:  25 hours per week

Permanent, follows the school calendar

Employment period will be 10-months each year starting late-August and concluding late-June

Job Summary:

The Child Care Worker at New Beginnings will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate child care program, offering a nurturing environment for the care of children. This position will require knowledge of the Early Learning Framework and will work in close cooperation with the Child Care Supervisor, school staff and other Child Care Workers.

Your Role:

Archway’s Child Care Worker with the New Beginnings Young Parent Program contributes by:

  • Working with the child, family, staff, and supervisor to provide an engaging early childhood experience for a child needing extra support. 
  • Carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the child, which may include indoor/outdoor, and active/quiet activities.
  • Attending to the child’s physical needs which may include toileting, eating, sleeping, and other basic needs.
  • Attending to the child’s psychological and emotional needs which may include cuddling, rocking, and holding the child.
  • Providing a healthy, safe, caring and nurturing environment.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the parents/caregivers, either in person or over the
  • Using the Early Learning Framework and emergent curriculum to provide an environment that reflects the interests of the child.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

  • Infant / Toddler License to Practice preferred or ECE license to practice.
  • One year experience providing care to children.

The Job Requires you to have:

  • The ability to collaborate and work with family, staff, and community partners to provide a holistic and nurturing environment for the child.
  • The ability to adapt and engage, which reflects the needs and interest of the child.
  • The ability to work in an environment where there is a high level of noise and distraction from children.
  • The ability to pay close attention to the child’s physical and emotional needs.
  • The ability to be involved in direct delivery of activities which may include moderate physical activity of walking, standing, bending, and lifting children up to 40 lbs.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment.
  • A current First Aid certificate is a condition of employment.
