Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, operate, and maintain industrial refrigeration and boiler systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.

  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related plant equipment.

  • Oversee and verify temperature-control systems to ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, AIB, and SQF standards.

  • Develop and execute emergency protocols for mechanical failures, refrigerant leaks, or power outages.

  • Maintain detailed logbooks, maintenance records, and regulatory documentation as required by TSSA and internal audit processes.

  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to plant personnel and assist with onboarding of new staff.

  • Collaborate with the maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and improve system efficiency.

  • Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.

  • Completion of a recognized college or technical training program in Power Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or Refrigeration Systems is required.

  • Valid TSSA 4th Class Operating Engineer License and TSSA Class B Refrigeration Operator License (or equivalent provincial certification) — both mandatory.

  • Minimum 4-5 years of full-time experience operating and maintaining industrial power or refrigeration systems in a manufacturing or food-processing facility.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of CSA B51/B52 codes, TSSA regulations, and ODS environmental compliance.

  • Strong ability to interpret P&IDs, schematics, and equipment manuals; skilled in preventive-maintenance programs and troubleshooting.

  • Solid understanding of food-safety and quality-control frameworks including GMP, HACCP, AIB, and SQF.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior operators while maintaining strict safety standards.

  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to work rotating shifts, including emergency call-outs.
