Monitor, operate, and maintain industrial refrigeration and boiler systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related plant equipment.
Oversee and verify temperature-control systems to ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, AIB, and SQF standards.
Develop and execute emergency protocols for mechanical failures, refrigerant leaks, or power outages.
Maintain detailed logbooks, maintenance records, and regulatory documentation as required by TSSA and internal audit processes.
Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to plant personnel and assist with onboarding of new staff.
Collaborate with the maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime and improve system efficiency.
Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Completion of secondary school is required.
Completion of a recognized college or technical training program in Power Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or Refrigeration Systems is required.
Valid TSSA 4th Class Operating Engineer License and TSSA Class B Refrigeration Operator License (or equivalent provincial certification) — both mandatory.
Minimum 4-5 years of full-time experience operating and maintaining industrial power or refrigeration systems in a manufacturing or food-processing facility.
Demonstrated knowledge of CSA B51/B52 codes, TSSA regulations, and ODS environmental compliance.
Strong ability to interpret P&IDs, schematics, and equipment manuals; skilled in preventive-maintenance programs and troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of food-safety and quality-control frameworks including GMP, HACCP, AIB, and SQF.
Proven ability to lead and mentor junior operators while maintaining strict safety standards.
Excellent English communication skills and ability to work rotating shifts, including emergency call-outs.
