P-Wee Early Learning Centre is dedicated to providing an imaginative, child-centered learning environment inspired by Montessori and Reggio Emilia principles, with a focus on nurturing the whole child. We offer high-quality Infant & Toddler Programs and 3–5 Years Programs within a warm and supportive setting.
The Early Childhood Supervisor provides leadership, direction, and coordination to a team of educators across the Infant/Toddler and 3–5 Years programs. This role ensures high-quality curriculum delivery, supports professional development, upholds licensing and health & safety standards, and fosters a positive, collaborative workplace culture. The supervisor acts as the key liaison between educators and management to support smooth, effective daily operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Plan, implement, and evaluate play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum in alignment with the BC Early Learning Framework and the centre’s educational philosophy.
2. Design and facilitate activities that nurture children’s physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and language development across all learning domains.
3. Conduct ongoing observations, document developmental progress, and prepare individualized learning plans based on each child's needs and interests.
4. Synthesize children’s overall development and communicate progress, strengths, and concerns to families through regular updates, meetings, and conferences.
5. Supervise and coordinate the daily work of ECEs, ECEAs, assistants, trainees, and volunteers to ensure consistent, high-quality care and programming.
6. Provide coaching, mentorship, and guidance to classroom teams; resolve day-to-day classroom or staffing concerns and support a positive, collaborative work environment.
7. Model effective, positive child-guidance strategies and support inclusive practices, collaborating with external professionals when needed.
8. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing standards by maintaining accurate records (attendance, incident, medication), sanitation routines, and emergency readiness.
9. Assist with scheduling, maintaining staff-to-child ratios, managing classroom resources, and preparing for licensing inspections, audits, or quality-assurance reviews.
10. Build strong working relationships with co-workers, families, and community partners; participate in staff meetings, centre events, and parent-engagement activities.
Qualifications:
1. Completion of a diploma program (minimum one year) in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
2. Valid BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate; Infant/Toddler or Special Needs certification is an asset.
3. Minimum 2–3 years of full-time experience in a licensed childcare setting.
4. Demonstrated ability to supervise teams and support high-quality early learning environments.
5. Proven leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
7. Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
8. Clear Criminal Record Check.
