Terms and Conditions of Employment: Permanent, Full-Time (40h/week), weekends and overtime may be required 

Work Setting: Fruit and vegetable manufacturing and processing plant

Work Site Environment: Cold/refrigerated, Wet/damp, Noisy

Job requirements:

Languages: English

Education: High school or equivalent

Experience: 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Area of specialization: Material handling equipment, Hydraulics, electronics, electrical and mechanical servicing and repair

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Handling heavy loads (up to 45kg/100lbs), Physically demanding, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Attention to detail, Able to hear warning signals

Personal Suitability: Adaptability, Effective communication, Team player and ability to work independently, Motivated, Accurate, Client focus, Numeracy, Problem-solving

Technology used: Database software applications, Google Apps

Duties:

  • Maintain and perform daily preventive maintenance on material handling equipment (including forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.)
  • Maintain battery room and chargers to include charging and changing batteries for material handling equipment
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand and power tools
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, hand and power tools
  • Maintain equipment rooms in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Maintain appropriate levels of material handling equipment maintenance supplies
  • Follow through and complete all work orders
  • Designs, implements, and reviews daily operator’s checklist procedures
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local guidelines, including OHS
  • Perform other related duties as required
