Nursery Worker

Wage: $17.98/hour;  salary increases as per company policy

Employment terms and conditions: Full-time, seasonal, 40-44 hours per week (weather-dependent),  Early Morning, Morning, Day, Weekend

Job requirements:

Experience: Will train on the job

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads (Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)), Large workload, Attention to detail, Hand-eye co-ordination

Personal Suitability: Dependability, reliability, team player

Work site environment:  Outdoors, Hot, Wet/damp

Own Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Gloves

Duties:

• Prepare the soil for planting
• Plant seeds, cuttings, and saplings
• Perform grafting, budding, and transplanting of young trees
• Monitor tree health, ensuring they are free from pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies
• Apply treatments (e.g., sprays) to prevent issues
• Regulate irrigation systems for optimal water distribution
• Dig, cut, and transplant trees and shrubs
• Prepare trees and shrubs for sale or planting
• Operate tractors and machinery for fertilizing, cultivating, and harvesting
• Maintain inventory of trees and shrubs
• Clean working areas
• Contribute to the growth and quality of trees, supporting farm sales and customer demands
• Ensure the health and proper development of trees
• Uphold high standards of care and productivity to support the company’s success and reputation
