Cement Finisher

Job Location: Based in Wetaskiwin, AB, but required to work in various locations (including Millet, Leduc, Camrose, Edmonton, Ponoka, etc.). The employer arranges travel to sites; company vehicles are provided

Wage:

• $33.00-$35.00 per hour (based on experience)
• Salary increases based on performance, per company policy
• Bonus per company policy

Employment terms and conditions: Seasonal, Full-time (40 hours/week, hours may vary between 30-60/week based on weather, including mornings, days, weekends; overtime required)

Job requirements:

Language: Basic English

Experience: 3 years of relevant experience

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Dusty, Noisy

Work Setting: Construction, Commercial, Residential

Area of Specialization: Sidewalks and curbs, Driveways, Garage Floors, Patios, Retaining walls, Wheelchair ramps, Exposed aggregate and earthwork, Power cutting tools, Poured concrete

Type of Materials: Hardners and epoxies, Colours and sealers, Lightweight concrete, Mastic flooring, Reinforcing membrane and protective covering

Personal Suitability: Team player, Dependability, Flexibility, Accuracy, Safety-oriented

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding, Handling heavy loads (up to 45 kg/100 lbs), Attention to detail, Bending, crouching, and kneeling

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Duties:

• Check formwork, granular base and steel reinforcement materials and direct placement of concrete into forms or onto surfaces according to grade
• Operate power vibrators to compact concrete
• Level top surface concrete, impart desired finish to concrete surfaces using hand and power tools
• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in fresh pour concrete
• Apply hardening and sealing components to cure surfaces of concrete
• Waterproof, damp proof and, restore concrete surfaces
• Repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures
