Solmaz Foods is a family-run business specializing in halal deli meat production in Ontario. The company produces a wide range of halal-certified products using locally sourced ingredients and supplies retail, wholesale, and food-service clients across the region. Operations include food processing, packaging, and distribution of meat products in a controlled production environment.

We are looking for a qualified Scale Mechanic (Food Processing Equipment) to join our team and support the maintenance and repair of production equipment.

Job Duties:

• Inspect food-processing equipment, including slicers, packaging machines, vacuum systems, metal detectors, and weighing systems, to determine repair needs

• Repair or replace defective or worn-out components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment

• Test and adjust repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and production efficiency

• Perform routine maintenance on food-processing and packaging equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure continuous operation

• Calibrate equipment such as scales, thermometers, pH meters, and detection systems to maintain accuracy and compliance with food safety standards

• Maintain records of repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment performance

• Ensure all equipment complies with HACCP, GMP, halal production standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.

• Troubleshoot equipment and operational issues in a food production environment.

Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school is required

• Completion of college courses related to equipment or product repair, or a minimum of 2 years of related experience in equipment repair, maintenance, or manufacturing environments, is required

• Working knowledge of equipment repair, maintenance, and the use of hand and power tools is required

• Ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues is required

• Experience repairing or maintaining food-processing or packaging equipment is required

• HACCP, SQF, or similar food safety knowledge is an asset

• Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 23 kg

• Comfortable working in refrigerated food production environments

• Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
