Job summary

Transcribe audio and speech recordings accurately and efficiently into clean, readable text following Walden Books Company style and formatting guidelines. Work with interviews, focus groups, meetings, audiobooks, and customer service recordings. Meet daily productivity and quality targets while maintaining confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

  • Listen to recorded speech and produce verbatim and/or edited transcripts depending on project requirements.
  • Apply Walden Books Company style (punctuation, capitalization, speaker labels, timestamps, sound descriptors).
  • Edit and proofread transcripts to ensure accuracy, correct grammar, and consistent formatting.
  • Identify and flag unclear audio or content requiring review; provide time-stamped notes.
  • Meet established productivity and quality metrics (e.g., WPM-equivalent targets, accuracy rate).
  • Tag and classify content when requested (speaker identification, topic tags).
  • Deliver files on schedule through company portal and follow version-control procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive content per company policies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends.
