About the employer

Icon Surveys Group is a construction surveying and underground utility locating company. We are looking for a Surveying Instrument Technician to support our field and service operations by preparing, servicing, repairing, testing, and maintaining surveying instruments and related equipment.

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma required

Experience: Experience is an asset; training will be provided

Work location: On site. Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

  • Repair or replace defective or worn-out parts and components using hand, power, or specially designed tools.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Repair and adjust system components.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
  • Perform and document routine maintenance.

  • Maintain inventory of equipment.
  • Perform on-site servicing and repair.

  • Help with the installation, assembly, and repairs to equipment.
  • Set up and prepare survey equipment for use by field crews.
  • Assist with the installation of survey equipment and related components.
  • Clean and check equipment before and after use.
  • Assist with calibration and testing of survey equipment and instruments.
  • Perform monthly calibrations under supervision.
  • Track and organize tools, parts, survey equipment, and equipment components.
  • Report any issues, damage, defects, or service concerns to the supervisor.
  • Prepare survey equipment, accessories, batteries, cables, and basic parts for field crews.
  • Assist senior technicians with servicing, maintenance, testing, and repair tasks.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and servicing of instruments to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Track usage, repairs, calibration logs, and servicing schedules for equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, packing, moving, and protection of technical equipment.
  • Modify or adjust equipment components to meet specific project requirements.
  • Assist in assembling custom mounts, supports, or protective equipment for field use.
  • Use basic tools and equipment to perform adjustments and minor fabrication tasks.
