Landscaper

Job Location:

• Based in Calgary, Alberta.
• Travel to Edmonton and other locations in Alberta may be required.
• Saunders Landscaping has sites located at various locations in the Calgary region and surrounding areas.
• Travel expenses are paid as per company policy.
• Financial support for relocation is available for out-of-province applicants, per company policy.

Wage:

• $30/hour (based on skills and experience/salary increases as per company policy)
• Bonuses provided based on performance

Employment terms and conditions: Seasonal employment, Full-time, 30 to 60 hours per week (weather-dependent), Morning, Days, Weekends, Overtime.

Job requirements:

Language: Basic English

Experience: 2 years of related experience

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Ability to work independently, Handling heavy loads (up to 45 kg (100 lbs), Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Repetitive tasks, combination of sitting, standing, walking, Ability to distinguish between colours

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Noisy, Work in all kinds of weather

Personal Suitability: Reliability, Organized, Team player, Effective interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Punctuality

Area of Specialization: Landscape construction, Plant knowledge and identification, Fences, Decks, Interlocking brick, Automated irrigation system, Retaining Walls, Rock gardens, Stone garden walls, Ornamental ponds, fountains and waterfalls, Fieldstone paths

Landscaping Experience: Commercial and/or industrial construction, Institutional construction

Work Setting: Landscape Contractor, Commercial, Urban area

Duties:

• Plant and move trees
• Plan and construct landscaped environments, which may include trees, shrubberies, lawns, fences, decks, patios, pergolas, and other landscape structures
• Prepare base for and install pavers
• Plan the leveling and grading of loam
• Construct retaining walls
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Landscaping plant identification
• Mentor labourers
• Abide by Saunders Landscaping safety program
