Tartistes is a wholesale production center dedicated to producing pies and pastries of great quality. Since 2008 we have been making a variety of premium frozen savory and sweet pastry products as well as frozen pie and tart shells in various shapes and sizes. We fill them with real food with real taste, free of chemical preservatives and additives.

We cater to several companies across Canada and the United States.

Job Summary:

The bakery labourer will be in-charge of aiding bakers while rotating throughout several tasks in a bakery production environment including filling, wrapping, and packaging product while adhering to food safety and quality procedures. This person should have relevant experience in the industry of factory/ wholesale production.

This person will need to show proficiency in following instructions, decision-making, problem-solving skills, time management, effective communication, and teamwork.

Job Description and Duties:

• Rotates among duties including the mixer, presser machine, filler machine, wrapper machine, packing boxes, stacking boxes, etc.
• Transport raw materials, finished products and packaging materials throughout plant and warehouse manually or with powered equipment.
• Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines
• Visually inspects product for quality and quantity.
• Adheres, understands and complies to safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment, clean work areas and equipment
• Reports all equipment issues to the supervisor or manager in a timely manner.
• Assist process control and machine operators in performing their duties.
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guest, customers, clients, coworkers, etc, as applicable.
• Ensures security of company assets.

Terms of Employment: Permanent Full-Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week 

Wages:  $17.00 per hour 

Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations. 

Benefits Package: 

• Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer.
• Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

• Completion of High School is an asset
• Ability to communicate in English
• Experience in mass-production, wholesale, factory environments is an asset

• Standing for extended periods
• Capable of lifting/pushing heavy objects weighing over 40 lbs
• Sometimes work in a noisy and distracting environment

• Use their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Spatial awareness and ability to navigate a busy kitchen
