The principals of Fraser Plastics Ltd. are experienced manufacturing businessmen and women who have developed their process gradually to meet the growing demand for an effective grinding, washing, and extruding processing facility in the Pacific Northwest. The plant is located in the Albion Industrial area of Maple Ridge.


The company’s success in attracting multi-national and domestic end-users, coupled with its acquisition of a fleet of tanker railcars to service the plant, resulted in notable growth and has allowed us to employ and provide work for Millwrights, Plant Maintenance Electricians, Supervisors (Plastic Products Manufacturing), Yard Supervisors (Shipping and Receiving), Extruder Operators, Sorters (Plastics Product Manufacturing), Wash Line Operators, Truck Drivers and other workers.


Fraser Plastics processes post-consumer and post-industrial plastic, and sells plastic pellets, washed/regrind flakes and baled plastic. We are currently looking for an energetic, organized and experienced Purchasing Officer to join our team.

Job Summary:

 The Purchasing Officer will be involved in coordinating with suppliers, scheduling orders, and following up on shipments. They will offer complete related to purchasing and procurement. Our ideal candidate is meticulously organized, proactive and prudent with experience in purchasing.

Job Description and Duties:

  • Place orders for equipment and supplies required for manufacturing operations
  • Identify suppliers and support the negotiation of contracts with existing suppliers
  • Determine contract contents and conditions, consult with suppliers and review quotations or proposals
  • Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements
  • Plan ways to reduce purchasing costs and work within budget
  • Determine requirements for supplies, materials and equipment based on available information and recommendations from various departments
  • Establish, monitor and evaluate delivery schedules, following up with suppliers as needed
  • Resolve issues that arise with purchases included delayed shipments, damaged or defective goods, contract violations etc.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors and ensure supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures
  • Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases
  • Optimize purchasing processes in line with changing organizational needs and market conditions
  • Produce regular reports on purchase commitments, costs and delivery performance
  • Prioritize administrative tasks and meet deadlines
  • Other related duties as required


Terms of Employment:
 Permanent Full Time, Long Term

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week 

Wages:  $33.50per hour 

Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations 

Benefits Package: 

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis

Anticipated Start Date of Employment:  As soon as possible

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required
  • At least 1 year of related experience
  • Able to read, write and speak in English
