Overview:

  • This role reports to the Head Accountant.
  • It is responsible to offer guidance to staff on day-to-day work activities and to provide leadership in the provision of accounting and taxation services by ensuring all daily/ monthly tasks are timely completed.
  • It is responsible for resolving complex outstanding issues with stakeholders and serve as an escalation point of contact.
  • It will make recommendations to the Leadership team for implementation of new administrative processes to improve efficiency of service delivery.

What you will bring to the table:

  • Ability to set up of accounting system on QuickBooks for corporate entities.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries, reconcile accounts and assist in the closing process and financial statement preparation.
  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using bookkeeping systems - QuickBooks.
  • Ensure accuracy of data and transactions of assigned monthly accounts and resolve any accounting errors or discrepancies on Quickbooks.
  • Calculate and submit union dues, HST, WSIB and report Payroll for assigned Monthly Accounts.
  • Assigning workload to bookkeeping team ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner and deadlines are met.
    • Support and provide overall guidance to bookkeeping staff in their day-to-day work, monthly reconciliations, report production.
    • Assist in the preparation of T4’s and T5’s.
    • Prepare client year-end packages, correspondence and monitor filing due dates.
    • 5 plus years’ experience in bookkeeping, including a thorough knowledge of QuickBooks Online.
    • Critical thinking ability to provide recommendations for the continued growth of our bookkeeping model.
    • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and Excel).

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Implement efficient working processes and coordinate, assign and review the work of clerks engaged in the following duties: administering accounts payable and receivable; processing, verifying and recording financial documents and forms; administering payrolls; and collecting fees and payments on overdue accounts.
  • Examine and verify accuracy of work and authorize routine payments, credits, and other transactions.
  • Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities amongst team members.
  • Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports.
  • Identify training needs and train workers in job duties and company policies.
  • Authorize the requisition supplies and materials.
  • Ensure smooth operation of computer systems and equipment and arrange for maintenance and repair work when needed.
  • May perform the same duties as workers supervised.

 

Terms of Employment:

Permanent Position/40 hours per week

 

Hours of work:

Monday-Friday 09:00 am- 05:00 pm

Saturday 09:00am -05:00pm twice a month during tax season from March to April.

From $ 32.50 to $ 35.50

Requirements:

  • College Program in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related subject.
    • Working knowledge and understanding of the application of generally accepted accounting principles including GAAP. 
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word/Outlook, Powerpoint), QuickBooks and intuit Profile tax software.
    • Must have payroll experience.
    • Understanding of CRA & WISB rules.
    • Basic understanding of Canadian tax system.
    • Ability to function in fast-paced environment with high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to meet individual deadlines as well as work collaboratively with team to help them meet deadlines.
    • Exceptional conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum 5 years of management accounting experience is required.
  • A great team player with strong communication skills
  • Strong organization, problem solving, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Previous experience working in supervision.
