Corner Clubhouse Daycare Centre opened in early 1989 to provide young children with a positive and caring environment conducive to social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Through activities planned and presented by staff trained in Early Childhood Education, children develop a sense of curiosity, awareness, and respect for the world around them and for the people in it. At all times, children are treated by staff with respect, compassion and understanding thereby enforcing the child’s self-esteem.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Corner Clubhouse Daycare Centre located at 244 Macdonell St, Kingston, Ontario, is recruiting for the position of FULL TIME Registered Early Childhood Educator. We are looking for committed, caring and energetic individual who will make our daycare Centre the great place it is to work. JOB DUTIES:

  • Creating and implementing activities that promote the physical, mental, emotional, and social development of children, while also following their interests.
  • Developing children's literacy skills and promoting their physical and cognitive abilities through activities such as talking, singing, drawing, writing, art, music, and drama, while leading and facilitating said activities.
  • Ensuring a daily balance of activities for children that encompass both active and quiet, indoor, and outdoor, individual, and group-based activities.
  • Maintaining a physically, emotionally, and culturally safe classroom/learning environment to ensure the health and well-being of children.
  • Assist in maintaining a sanitary and safe environment to ensure overall health of children.
  • Preparing children for monthly fire and emergency drills, and debriefing with them afterward to evaluate what went well and identify areas for improvement in future drills.
  • Observing children's daily overall health and discussing their abilities and interests with parents and other staff members.
  • Observing and evaluating children to identify potential learning opportunities and areas for improvement, and preparing reports for parents, guardians, and supervisors.
  • Encouraging and supporting children in developing good eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Maintaining a tidy and sanitary environment, in accordance with licensing requirements, by regularly cleaning surface areas and rooms.
  • Developing and maintaining professional relationships with families by providing ongoing support and resources.
  • Ensuring that regular attendance checks are documented and maintaining accurate attendance records.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: 1-year or more
  • Education: Minimum 2-year Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Certificates, Licensing & Registration:
    • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
    • First Aid Certificate
    • CPR Certificate

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

  • Wages: $21/hour
  • 35-45 hours/week
