JOB SUMMARY:


The role of the Personal Lines Insurance Broker involves selling various insurance policies such as property and casualty, life, health and liability coverage to individuals and families to protect their personal assets and manage risks. Your primary responsibility is to assess the insurance needs of clients, provide expert advice, and assist them in selecting appropriate insurance coverage for their specific requirements. Your expertise and guidance will help clients make informed decisions, secure appropriate policies, and navigate the complexities of the insurance market.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

  • Through consultative in-person or over the phone sales, acquires new personal insurance products, including but not limited to, travel insurance, marine, ICBC, optional auto insurance and additional products and services for clients.
  • Create and present client insurance coverage summaries, calculate premiums and payment procedures.
  • Renews policies by reviewing current coverages and making recommendations.
  • Reviews product terms and conditions including, but not limited to, coverages, limits and exclusions to limit errors and omissions.
  • Creates and follows up on future business leads and upcoming renewals.
  • Collaborates with Waypoint PL Support team and other supplier’s, including insurer partners.
  • Advise and inform clients and potential clients about our insurance services and products.
  • Meets all provided sales, business-building and retention targets, Waypoint standards and underwriting guidelines.
  • Updates client information and insurance policy details in applicable systems.
  • Processes endorsements and cancellations for insurance, and additional products and services.
  • Thorough active listening and investigative skills resolves potential problem renewals.
  • Remarket renewals as per Waypoint policies and client needs.
  • Processes payments and follow-up on outstanding payments.
  • Issues new, renewal, endorsements and cancellations for insurance policies, and additional products and services.
  • Meets all required processing standards for storage, retrieval, confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all insurance manuals, best practices, standards, policies and systems.
  • Complete all required forms and documentation with accuracy
  • Provides guidance on eligibility and ensure policy requirements are met
  • Other related duties as required.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent Full-time, Long-term.  

WAGES: $28.90 per hour

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week  

OVERTIME: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations.

 

BENEFITS PACKAGE:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by the employer.
  • Vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a semi-monthly basis.

 

Location of Work: #1-7053 Market Street, Port Hardy, BC V0N 2P0

Possibility of working remotely anywhere within British Columbia.

Anticipated Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required
  • Valid Insurance Agent/Broker license – Level 1 or higher
  • One year of related experience
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
