We are currently searching for three experienced Drywall Tapers
Work Location:
Various locations in the GTA
Duties:
- Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
- Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster
- Cure freshly plastered surface
- Clean and prepare surface
- Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
- Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings.
- Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
- Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in finish coats
- Measure, cut and fit drywall sheets for installation on walls and ceilings
- Mix plaster ingredients to desired consistency
- Mould and install Ornamental plaster panels, cornices and trim
- Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
- Spray acoustic or texture materials over walls and ceilings
- Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
- Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
- Trowel or spray coats of stucco over exteriors of building to form weatherproof surfaces
- Attach metal or gypsum lath to studs or furring
- Install acoustic tile, hangers for suspended ceilings and metal studs for composition wallboard or lath.
- Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
- Prepare wall and ceilings layouts
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
- Work at heights, on scaffolding or wing stages
- Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
Applicants must be able to demonstrate extensive taping and plastering experience.
You will be required to train apprentices.

Work site environment:
Own Tools/Equipment:
- Safety glasses/goggles, Steel-toed safety boots, Mask, Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat, Tools
Equipment and machinery experience:
- Automatic Taping Tools – corners applicators, finishing boxers, loading pumps, nail spotters, drywall sander
- Semi Automatic Taping Tools – super taper, taping banjo, applicator tubes.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- bending, crouching, kneeling, hand-eye co-ordination, handling heavy loads, large workload, manual dexterity, physically demanding, sound discrimination, standing for extended periods, tight deadlines, walking, work under pressure, fast-paced environment.

From Monday to Friday
The shift is from 7 am to 3 pm

- Over 3 years of work experience
Salary:
$ 48.61 per hour
All workers should be members of Union as requirement by agreement with general contractor.
