Job Summary: I am seeking a passionate, responsible, and full-time Home Support Worker to look after my senior mother (87 years) as she is suffering from stroke history with residual deficits, Hypertension, Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Osteoporosis, Seizure Disorder, Chronic Hyponatremia and Dyslipidemia, and other related health conditions. The Home Support Worker must be tolerant, sensible, compassionate and truly have the heart to care for seniors who require extra support, care and attention.

Job Description and Duties:

  • Provide hands-on personal care
  • Offer support, companionship, meaningful activities and conversation
  • Offer personal, health-related and emotional support
  • Help with personal hygiene as needed such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming and other related duties
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals that are easy to eat
  • Ensure that the client has clean clothes and bedding
  • Light housekeeping to maintain a clean home environment
  • Follow instructions given by family and physicians
  • Perform routine health-related duties assisting in the administration of medications and other duties if health status changes
  • Assist with mobility around the house and outside
  • Accompanying to and from activities, walks, running errands, physician’s appointments

 

Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Long Term

 

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Monday through Friday: 8:00am – 4:00pm

 

Wages: $21.00per hour

 

Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations

 

Work Setting: Private Home

 

Location of Work: Coquitlam, British Columbia near the Bowen Drive cul de sac

 

Anticipated Start Date of Employment: As soon as possible.

 

Education, Experience and Language Requirements:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Must be able to work independently in an unsupervised setting

 

Benefits:

  • Insurance from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covered by employer
  • 4% vacation pay as per provincial regulations will be paid each payday on a bi-weekly basis
