We are seeking a reliable and hard-working Construction Helper to assist with a variety of tasks on residential and commercial job sites in Prince Rupert, BC. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in concrete demolition, trenching, pipe installation, door and window installation, and basic plumbing and electrical support under supervision.

Job Duties:

• Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
• Perform pre-operational inspection
• Read blueprints to determine work requirements
• Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures
• Instruct apprentices
• Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
• Assist in aligning pipes and perform related activities during oil and gas pipeline construction
• Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs
• Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shove
• Clean and pile salvaged materials
• Perform routine maintenance work
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment

Qualification/Requirement:

    •       Experience in general construction or related trades as an asset

            •           Ability to install windows and doors independently is preferred

            •           Experience in installing plumbing pipes in trenches (including long-run piping)

            •           Strong ability to operate jackhammer and concrete cutting tools

            •           Has basic plumbing and electrical knowledge and can work under supervision

            •           Physically fit and capable of working in demanding environments

            •           Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team
